A wealth of activities within reach of our campsite in Val d’Azun

Just a few minutes from Argelès-Gazos is the Val d’Azun, a protected valley packed full of activities for all ages.

Adventurers can scale the heights on mountain bikes or even soar away paragliding.

Families can uncover unspoilt villages, local delicacies, and protected countryside meaning nature lovers can marvel at the mountains, forests, lakes, and wildlife of our beautiful Pyrénées.

In the common room, you will find maps and guidebooks to help you to plan delightful excursions.

And because holidays are also about taking it easy, you will find loads of activities just a stone’s throw from your tent or camper van. We have pétanque, volleyball, ping pong, a play area for children, and more.

Walks & hikes near Arrens-Marsous

Hiking trails

The campsite is:

  • 5 km from the Tech reservoir,
  • 7 km from the Pyrénées National Park. In the centre of the village of Arrens-Marsous and near Aste, you’ll find a shop specialising in typical Pyreneean products,
  • 8 km from Estaing lake and the Col du Couraduque and du Col du Soulor mountain passes,
  • on the GR10 and GR101 hiking trails,
  • 500 m from the Camino de Santiago de Compostela,
  • 18 km from the Col d’Aubisque mountain pass if you fancy a jaunt into Spain.

Mountain and road biking

For even more excitement and wonder, hop on your bike and climb the mountains of Val d’Azun. Many routes are within reach of Camping Mialanne.

  • Hautacam 1525 m altitude
  • Luz Ardiden 1730 m altitude
  • Soulor 1474 m altitude
  • Aubisque 1709 m altitude
  • Tentes – Gavarnie 2208 m altitude

  • Rafting, canyoning and caving

  • Rock climbing and via ferrata
  • Outdoor adventure parks and zip wires like the zip wire at Val’Câble in Soulor.
  • For something a little bit different, try the Mountain Luge, a mountain scooter, or a segway.

Sport & relaxation

At the campsite

We have a pétanque terrain, volleyball court, football goalposts, a children´s play area, ping pong table, table football and carrom.

Recreation in Arrens-Marsous

Around a pretty little lake, you’ll find lots to enjoy including a heated pool with a slide, jacuzzis, aquafit and swimming classes in July and August, a climbing wall, tennis courts, mini-golf, and fishing spots.

New activities on offer include a pump track, outdoor gym equipment, and a picnic area.

Fishing

Our campsite is on the edge of the River Gave but glorious fishing trips await in the Val d’Azun on the outstanding lakes in both the Estaing and Arrens valleys.

Gastronomy, terroir & heritage

Wednesday evening and Sunday morning markets

On Wednesdays from 4pm, Arrens-Marsous holds a local produce market. Discover high-quality produce such as honey, cheese, jam, baked goods, bread, and organic vegetables, all prepared with local savoir-faire.

On Sunday mornings in July and August, there is a weekly market.

Cheeses of Val d'Azun

These delicious cheeses are made with milk from goats, cows, and sheep reared in our beautiful mountains.

Local heritage

The countryside is beautiful but our unspoilt Pyrenean villages also have surprises for you to uncover. Visit the churches of Arrens-Marsous, one of which is a historical monument or the exceptional church at Aucun with its double naves and superb Roman entranceway, while at Arcizans-Dessus, windmills are scattered along the river Gave.

 

Curiosities

Pyrénées Animal Park

Located in Argelès-Gazost, the Pyrénées Animal Park is a zoo and animal park. The park occupies 14 hectares and is home to 600 animals from over 100 different species.

Grottes de Betharram

Experience a magical illuminated underworld. Visits to the enchanting caves last an hour and twenty minutes.

Eagles' keep

The chateau at Beaucens in Hautes-Pyrénées is home to an impressive collection of eagles.. A spectacularly beautiful experience.
